Kuno Villas

Amid tropical gardens on Gili Trawangan, Kuno Villas brings a distinctly Indonesian character to island accommodation. The property comprises just 16 villas and rooms, many constructed using reclaimed Javanese timber more than 120 years old, carefully restored by expert carpenters. The result is a collection of traditional timber buildings that feel a world away from the island's busier beachfront resorts.
Antique woodwork, natural materials and lush greenery give the property its character, with accommodation ranging from intimate rooms to spacious multi-bedroom villas with private pools. Kuno also offers a selection of curated stay packages tailored to different guests, making it possible to build a more complete island experience around a romantic escape, family holiday or group getaway.
Behind the scenes, the team takes a considered approach to its environmental footprint, growing produce in a vegetable garden, keeping chickens, composting organic waste and using a bio-septic system. Plastic water bottles have been eliminated, while even the logistics of building on a car-free island have shaped the property's story, with construction materials transported by horse-drawn cart.
With its combination of traditional craftsmanship, tropical surroundings and an emphasis on more responsible hospitality, Kuno Villas offers a characterful alternative to the conventional island resort.
