Bar Mauro

Bar Mauro won the Campari One To Watch Award at The World's 50 Best Bars 2025, a fast signal for a bar that feels deliberately small in scale: an intimate Roma Norte aperitivo spot built for repeat visits rather than spectacle.
The idea comes from brothers Ricardo and Eduardo “Yayo” Nava, who named it for their grandfather, Mauro Mendoza. Inside, the room nods to 1970s Milan with mirrors, subway tiles and period prints, but the drinking is firmly Mexico City: amari and vermouth take the lead, then mezcal, guava and passion fruit move the aperitivo somewhere more local.
Order the Garibaldi, made with Campari, Cynar, bitter Italian aperitif and passion fruit, or the Maurito, with mezcal, Lillet Blanc, sherry and guava. Food stays in the same register: arancini, prosciutto, mortadella and a much-talked-about cheeseburger. Bar Mauro was ranked No. 2 in North America's 50 Best Bars 2026 and named The Best Bar in Mexico (Destination Award, 2026); Yayo Nava was also named International Bartender of the Year at the 2026 Spirited Awards.
