This modern izakaya in Richmond serves contemporary Japanese dishes in a space shaped by sharp lines and warm lighting. Inside, the palette is minimalist—low timber seating and soft tones create a setting that’s quietly composed.

Wagyu cheesesteak sandos, tuna tataki with yuzu kosho and kaffir lime-topped prawn toast suggest a kitchen that’s respectful of tradition but confident in its tweaks. The yakitori offering rotates often and is worth exploring across return visits.

Sake and Japanese whisky dominate the drinks list, supported by a tight edit of house cocktails. The soundtrack skews ambient and electronic. We’d book ahead on weekends.
