Queen Victoria Market

Home to hundreds of traders, Queen Victoria Market is one of Melbourne’s largest and oldest food destinations. The historic open-air sheds and indoor halls host stalls selling everything from deli meats and fresh produce to Sri Lankan hoppers, Filipino skewers and handmade pasta.

Coffee is a serious pursuit here, with several strong operators pulling shots alongside pastry counters and street food vendors. We’d start with a hot jam doughnut from the American Doughnut Kitchen van, then graze from stall to stall.

During summer and winter, the market runs evening food events with live music, craft beer and a broader mix of cuisines. It’s walk-in only, card and cash friendly, and built for wandering.
