Overlooking Are Guling Bay from a hillside just west of Kuta, Somewhere is a boutique retreat created by sisters Claire and Valia Gontard. Drawing on their French-Chinese heritage and family ties to Lombok, the pair have created a contemporary hideaway that feels closely connected to its dramatic coastal setting.

Clean architectural lines, raw concrete, warm timber and natural textures define the interiors, while floor-to-ceiling glass opens onto private terraces with sweeping views across the hills and Indian Ocean. The design is deliberately restrained, allowing the landscape to take centre stage.

An infinity pool overlooks the bay, while the restaurant champions fresh ingredients and locally inspired flavours. With its considered design, intimate scale and spectacular setting, Somewhere offers a quieter perspective on South Lombok, away from the bustle of Kuta.
